Effect: Random state
EffectNo. 9189
Synopsis
This is the box for rolling dice and spinning roulettes from a circuit; the roll is immediate. In BoomBang you can choose a user variable so the die's result is added to whoever rolled, and a wait in seconds so it cannot be rolled again too soon. Perfect for board games and raffles.
Step by step
Roll a die and add its face
- Place a six-sided die. Create a “User variable” named “points”, with a value and duration “While the user is in the room”. Save it.
- Stack “Says something” and “Random state”. Set the word to “roll”.
- Select the die, choose “points” as the user's score variable and set the cooldown to 5 seconds. Save.
- Say “roll”, repeat immediately and try again after 5 seconds. Inspect “points” in the Variables section of /circuits.
Result: Each allowed roll adds a face from 1 to 6; repeating during the cooldown adds nothing.

Notes
- The cooldown belongs to this box. The reference test uses die 3571.
- Effect: Change state doesn't roll a die. Use Effect: Random state for that.
- Only dice, roulettes and the Circuits clock have states.
- A circuit's roll is instant: a stack can roll the same die again right away.
- Effect: Random state with a user variable adds the die result to whoever rolled it.
- Effect: Random state with a wait doesn't allow rolling again until those seconds have passed.
